The Georgia Center is proud to share this pod cast, a discussion about a new book for our adopted Teens and their parents.

Bert Ballard, PhD, is an adoptee, adoption researcher, and future adoptive parent. He has helped form two adoptee-led organizations, the Vietnamese Adoptee Network and the International Adoptee Congress to that end. He has been published in Adoption Parenting: Creating a Toolbox, Building Connections and Adoption Today magazine and has spoken across the U.S. and Canada to numerous adoptive parents and adoption professionals sharing his experiences as an adoptive person. Bert has a PhD in communication and conducts research on adoption identity and adoptive families. He has two scholarly articles coming out soon. Bert is the editor of EMK Press' latest project, Pieces of Me: Who do I Want to Be, a groundbreaking work for adoptive teens.

Carrie Kitze, founder and Publisher of EMK Press is an adoptive mother of two children from China. She is the author of We See the Moon and I Don't Have Your Eyes and the creator of Adoption Parenting: Creating a Toolbox, Building Connections which she worked on with her editors Sheena Macrae and Jean MacLeod.

Adoption Assistance Information

The Department of Human Resources - State Adoption Unit is presently updating the Adoption Assistance Booklets. The GA Resource Center will provide the booklet to prospective adoptive parents, adoption agencies and professionals when the booklets have been completed.

Great News

Parents and Professionals can now access audio Pod Cast under the "Services" and "Resources" icons at the website. There you will find 2-15 minute audio clips recorded by experts in the field that address topics on adoption, foster care and parenting. Here's a sample of some of the clips that are now available to you: Dr. Alcuin Johnson's podcast on Attention Deficient Disorder with or without Hyperactivity, Dr. Wendy Hanovold's presentation on 3 Steps to Giving Consequences and Dr. Sunaina Jain's discussion on Hoarding Food to name a few.
